Austin Kleon’s latest book “Keep Going” is NOT surfing on buzzwords. The author is NOT proposing a new game changing method that has a crazy designation like “The 24 I’s for Innovation”.

No, Austin Kleon just reminds us what is important in our world full of distractions.

What is important is to stay focus on the things we believe in. And there is no secret method for that. Life is an art, not a science.

If what you care about is not on the scene yet, it’s your role to bring it.

In this book, he shares with us 10 things that have helped him during his creative journey.

Some will resonate with you, some will not. That’s fine. Steal what’s useful for you.

There is one that speaks to me particularly, it’s #3: “Forget the noun, do the verb”

If you wait for someone to give you a job title before you do the work, you might never get to do the work at all.

Seth Godin wrote an awesome post about it some years ago and it can be summerized in these two simple words: Pick Yourself !

“I don’t know what I am. I know that I am not a category. I am not a thing — a noun. I seem to be a verb, an evolutionary process.” — R. Buckminster Fuller

Austin Kleon encourages us to burn our business cards as job titles aren’t for people like us, they are for others.

Can you forget the nouns ? And can you do the verbs ?

We would be curious to hear about YOUR journey…
