What’s the Plan?

How often do we ask this question when we are in the heat of the moment of the crisis of the day, week or, month?

What’s the Plan?

How do we get out of this?

Where do we go from here?

Take your pick, you know the question though, it’s in the back of your mind, ready to leap when trouble hits, when the waters rough, when we needed answers yesterday.

But when there is no trouble, when it’s calm sailing, when things are humming along — how often do we ask this question of ourselves or better yet — how often do we ask our team this question?

Not as often as we would like to think, but it’s in the calm where it is so much better to plan for when things could go wrong.

It’s easier to get more credit when you aren’t maxed out.

It’s easier to get people to join your crazy new idea when they don’t see how much it has worn you down.

Keep the list coming but you get the gist. When things are calm, that’s when we should be asking ourselves — “What’s the Plan?”

Where do we want to go when we finish this project?

What will the team turn their focus to when this release ships?
