Have you ever considered all the different ways you can incorporate herbs into your daily rituals?

As a pharmacist I began studying herbs as a way to enhance your body. My explorations began with capsules and tablets. This is what I was familar with in my practice.

Fast forward to 2008, I go from self-study, to actively learning from herbalists (through classes and programs). In most situations my teachers were comparing herbs to foods and cooking.

I remember being surprised at first, but these days, this is how I teach my own students. In my class, students are asked to drink teas and use spices in the simple meals they prepare.

But what would be a good way to take this one step further?

Last year I discovered a great book — it is called Wild Drinks and Cocktails: Handcrafted Squashes, Shrubs, Switchels, Tonics and Infusions to Mix at Home.

I immediately fell in love the book and a lovely author, Emily Han. Emily is an herbalist, educator, book author and recipe creator.

One of her passions is creating drinks and cocktails with wild plants and spices. Now, as the summer begins this is a perfect way to learn something new in your life.

Emily makes the entire process easy and fun. She combines the beauty of the plants with their medicinal properties and taste.

She encourages you to rely fully on your senses and simply enjoy your life!

I was enormously excited to sit down with Emily and chat about her book, her approach to herbal medicine and ways to fully experience your life.
